October 2008 - Issue 5: ITL EPS Mild Solvent Inks are "BIO" by Design.

The majority of digital ink suppliers have now released a "bio" ink or other solvent based ink products which are being marketed as environmentally friendly. As a responsible manufacturer, ITL continue to address the growing concern over environmental issues in the wide and grand format digital printing industry, and we have now adapted formulations to create our own advanced solvent based inks with similar bio characteristics to others currently on the market.

In recent years the lactates used in ITL's EPS inks have been updated from fossil fuel derivatives to ones manufactured from corn oils. Corn oils are a renewable resource and the use of them in preference to more traditional fossil fuels helps to reduce CO2 emissions and the pressure on depleting oil reserves. The solvents used in EPS inks produce very low VOC emissions and are classified as readily biodegradable. Furthermore, these inks are manufactured from toxicologically and environmentally safe materials using natural lactates, which are safe performance solvents and approved for use as food additives, alongside esters which are most commonly used in the cosmetics industry. In essence, ITL EPS inks are bio solvent inks in all but name.

ITL EPS mild solvent inks are formulated with an exceptional wide colour gamut to produce high-impact colour brilliance and photo-realistic image quality on a wide range of both coated and uncoated substrates. They are suitable for outdoor display and retain the excellent scratch and alcohol resistant characteristics required in the market. Supplied in pre-filled 220ml ink cartridges, with bulk supply available to users of refillable cartridges and bulk ink systems. Inks are a "plug and play" colour match with flushing not usually required when switching from the OEM inks on most Roland, Mutoh, Mimaki, Agfa, Uniform, Tiara and Spandex printers.

Water Based Graphics Inks

ITL manufacture a range of fade resistant water-based inks which are designed for proofing and printing Graphics, Fine Art and Photography. Inks in this range are available for most wide format inkjet printer models including Agfa, Mutoh, Mimaki, Roland, Epson, Canon and Hewlett Packard.

These inks provide users with a genuine UK manufactured, reliable and cost-effective alternative to OEM inks which are suitable for high resolution and high speed printing. They are an excellent colour match, formulated specifically for each printer model, and can be slotted into existing colour management workflows without adjustment. Printer flushing is not required when switching from the OEM inks.

ITL's water based inks are supplied in pre-filled cartridges with chip and chip card support for all models available as standard. They can also be purchased in bulk 1, 5 and 25 litre containers providing even greater cost savings, and allowing printers to use our refillable cartridges and bulk feed systems. ITL's ISO9001 certification means you can rely on our consistent, high-quality and reliable water-based inkjet inks.

BEST WISHES TO CHARLIE HARRISON FROM ALL AT ITL
Charlie Harrison spent some time on work experience in our Production department earlier this year and we greatly enjoyed having him here. Obviously we were all hugely shocked to hear that, after a period of illness, Charlie was diagnosed with Leukaemia. Because of the early detection and the type of cancer he has being the most treatable kind, there is every chance that Charlie will make a full recovery. He is undergoing treatment at Christie's, a highly-regarded specialist hospital and has the support of a fantastic family behind him. His Father, Chris, is running the Wilmslow Half Marathon and is also organising a Charity Golf Day with all funds going to the unit treating Charlie. If you would like to get involved in the Golf Day or make a contribution to the charity please contact us at ITL by phone or email. Everyone at ITL would like to take this opportunity to wish Charlie a speedy recovery and we look forward to him joining us again this summer.
